Marla graduated from the Juilliard School in New York with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Since graduating, she has been working as a performer on Broadway and off, in National Tours and regional theaters all over the country, as well as in concerts, film, and television. She was nominated for a Tony Award, winning many prestigious awards, including the Drama Desk Award for Best Actress in a musical. Marla has also worked with some of the most well-known composers in her long career. Since 2008, Marla has taught privately and in groups for acting, singing, and performance. While teaching, she found a new passion. Her styles include classical, musical theater, jazz, pop, and country.
