Julie started piano instruction at age 10, vocal singing training at 16 from renowned instructors in the Sacramento area, studying for one year at the Sacramento City College under the head vocalist professor. She continued her education with several BYU vocal professors, as well as singing in the choir there, and private studies under opera coaches and a SF Conservatory professor. Julie has been teaching piano and voice since 1978, and founded, produced, and directed a Broadway theatre company in Susanville, CA for 14 years. She teaches all styles, traditional, ear training, and theory.
Julie offers group keyboard classes called Successful Piano Classes of 3-4 students for all beginners for children and adults. The lessons are one hour per week at $130/month, only slightly more than a 30 minute private lesson. Sibling discounts available. She has developed a program that is fun and exciting for beginners, and has been shown to dramatically improve a student's sight reading skills and learn more songs each week. The program Includes proven practice techniques and fun games, so home practice is all about review, requiring less adult supervision. The students will have their individual keyboards during the lesson. Once the student progresses to a certain level, he or she can begin private lessons.
