Steven is a world-class bassist and educator based in New Paltz, New York. He earned his Bachelor in Jazz Performance from the State University of New York in White Plains in 2018 and continued his elite training to receive a Master of Music from CUNY Queens in 2020. He is also a state-certified educator for K-12 in public schools, providing him with a sophisticated understanding of both performance and pedagogy.
A working professional since the late 1990s, Steven's performance credits are extensive and global. He has been featured at jazz festivals across Europe, Australia, and the United States. Since relocating to New York, Steven has served as the principal bassist on Broadway NYC and has held several high-profile jazz residencies at premier clubs and hotels throughout the metropolitan area.
Teaching professionally since 1998, Steven brings over two decades of experience to his students. He offers master-level instruction in Bass and Piano, covering a vast range of genres including Jazz, Classical Rock, Pop, Afro, Cuban, Bossa Nova, Blues, Country, and Funk. His easygoing personality creates a relaxed yet highly focused environment where students of all ages can master the technical and creative demands of their instrument.
Steven teaches from a professional studio in New Paltz and offers high-definition online instruction. He is also available for in-home lessons throughout the local area. He focuses on rhythmic precision and harmonic understanding, ensuring students develop a professional sound from day one.
