Laura is a highly qualified musician and educator based in Sarasota, Florida. She attended the prestigious Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music for four semesters, where she majored in Piano, Organ, and Music Theory. Her formal musical foundation is exceptionally deep, having studied piano privately for nine years with professional instructors prior to her collegiate training.
In addition to her musical background, Laura holds a Master of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She dedicated 30 years to a career as a Speech-Language Pathologist, working with clients of all ages. This professional experience provides her with a unique level of patience and a sophisticated understanding of how different individuals process information and develop new skills.
Laura’s professional performance career began in the mid-1970s. She has served as a prominent accompanist for various local choruses, including Stan Kingma's Virginians, and has acted as the church pianist, organist, and music director for numerous congregations. Currently, she continues to perform locally for weddings, banquets, and special events. Since 1981, Laura has shared her passion through teaching, offering expert instruction in Classical, Jazz, Sacred, Pop, Gospel, Christian, Folk, and Country styles.
Laura provides professional in-home instruction throughout the Sarasota area and offers high-definition online sessions for students nationwide. She combines her conservatory-level technical expertise with a patient, easygoing personality to create a supportive environment for students of all skill levels.
