Josh began his studies under his dad, who is a professional percussionist. Before the age of four, his parents enrolled him at Ashland Community College. By five, he was performing drum solos for the school's talent show and winning. He continued playing in the middle school and high school bands, including jazz, marching, pep, concert band, and band competitions. He began performing professionally at the age of fourteen. Upon graduating high school, Josh was given various awards and scholarships for college. Josh attended Morehead State University in Morehead, KY for 5 years towards a Percussion Performance degree. He has performed and toured with notable bands, and with the Marine Corp, the Blue Coats Drum, and Bugle Corp, which is part of the drum corp international that competes nationally. He also wrote a lot of the percussion parts. Josh has been teaching since 1998, and offers marching percussion, rock, fusion, jazz, and drum set styles.
