Dawn started her musical training at the age of 8 on piano with her grandmother. She played the flute in middle school and violin/viola in high school. During high school, Dawn composed and recorded numerous pieces of music for her orchestra. She won scholarships and graduated from Rollins College, FL in 2005. During college, Dawn taught lessons and performed in church services to help pay tuition. After college, Dawn managed a local violin shop and decided to focus more on teaching. She went on to study Suzuki Pedagogy in NC in 2008. From 2010 to 2018, Dawn began teaching full-time with 40+ students at Sam Ash Muisc in FL where she organized and conducted her own small youth orchestra. During this time she arranged over 20 popular rock tunes for her youth orchestra and hosted student recitals. Also during this time, she was the principal 2nd violinist of the Tampa Bay Symphony. In 2018, Dawn moved to TN for the Appalachian life-stlye. Currently, she is concertmaster of the Scruffy City Orchestra in Knoxville and is in a pirate-themed band for seasonal festivals. Dawn enjoys and teaches many genres including classical, celtic, gypsy, bluegrass, old-time, rock and folk styles.
