| Kathi Kerr |
| Thank you for visiting us at Melody Music Studios. I'm Kathi Kerr, owner and founder of Melody Music Studios. Please feel free to contact me with any questions! We would love to hear from you.
Kathi grew up in a musical family, with a mother who is a classically trained musician, and a father who plays the upright jazz bass by ear, so she had the best of both worlds-training and a good ear for improv. Growing up, Kathi regularly performed as soloists, as well as with her family, and knew early on that music was going to be her life! After high school, she studied for 2 years at Point Loma College for piano performance, than after a few years, transferred to The San Francisco Conservatory of Music in San Francisco, CA for another 2 years, studying under Julliard graduate, Mac McCray. Between colleges, Kathi performed, toured and recorded in a contemporary Christian band as keyboardist and background vocalist. While at the conservatory, Kathi started teaching private piano and voice lessons and found that she really enjoyed it. In 1989, she found herself with so many students, she decided to hire some of her advanced adult students to teach her overflow, and thus Melody Music Studios was started.
|As Melody Music Studios began to grow, she decided to expand to all instruments and voice, and in 2001 opened multiple cities across the country. Kathi has a love for music, and believes that, while learning an instrument or voice should be challenging, it should also be fun and positive for the student as he/she begin their own personal musical journey.|
Administrative Assistant and Marketing Cooridinator
| Email: Lindy@MelodyMusicStudios.com |
Lindy grew up singing and humming harmony from the age of two! Her mom sang and played piano, her earliest memories were of sitting on the floor listening and singing along. It was at her mother's knee she learned to love many genres of music from hymns and showtunes to classical and pop. Her dream was to sing professionally and loved the idea of doing commercials. Lindy sang in church and every chance she had but was very shy. It wasn't until joining choir and marching band as a flute player, that her personality and love for people was apparent. Being in band there were constant money raising projects for trips and competitions. When it came to selling, noone could ever out sell her. Upon graduating from highschool Lindy began studying music at Marshall University in Huntington WV. Lindy transfered to Carbondale Illinois and attended Southern Illinois University and worked in retail at a local Christian Bookstore named Gospeland. It wasn't long before she found herself doing advertising for the chain of bookstores in Southern Illinois and Southeast Missouri.Lindy spent 1987-1991 writing and performing commercial spots for WCIL FM in Carbondale and WXAN FM in AVA. She decided to transfer to a local Junior college in Carterville Illinois to enter a scholarship pageant. In 1991 she was crowned Ms Volunteer of John A Logan College. Lindy spent that year as a representative of the Junior college, traveling, performing and speaking about the importance of music education. After graduating with her Associate of Arts from John A. Logan, Lindy relocated to Nashville Tennessee to pursue her music career and attend Middle Tennessee State University. She also recieved a vocal scholarship from MTSU and set her sights on a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice and Music Industry. Lindy studied music business and even became more familiar with the industry working on music row at RCA Studio B and as a tour guide for the Country Music Hall of Fame. She sang for tour groups from all over the world and marketed Music City and Gaylord Entertainment with it's beautiful Opryland Hotel, on tour buses as well as the Ryman Auditorium's giftshop. Lindy graduated from MTSU in May of 1990 with her Bachelor of Music in Voice and Minor in Music Industry. Lindy enjoys writing and has had poetry and short stories published. She loves to make people laugh, is creative and knows how to sell her ideas. She has been on staff with Melody Music Studios as a vocal and piano instructor since 2007. With her sales, writing and performing experience, she has the perfect combination to be our Administrative Assisstant and Marketing Coordinator.
