Jim graduated from the H.A.C.C Junior College in Harrisburg, Pa in 1976 with a Music (guitar performance) degree. He then continued his education to graduate from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA in 1982 with a Bachelors in Piano Performance. While at Berklee, he was able to reach their highest level in both the Theory and Ear Training departments. Jim has been teaching since 1982 and he teaches piano, guitar and bass and his styles include jazz, rock, blues, classical among other styles.
