Emily started music at a very young age on the piano where she studied for several years. Along with piano, Emily studied saxophone and participated in the school band. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from St. Norbert College and a Master of Music degree from the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities. Emily created a series of saxophone pedagogy workshops for middle school saxophone students in various locations throughout the Twin Cities. She has also created an online platform and hopes to expand it in the future. Her performances include various ensembles affiliated with the National Band Director Association, the College Band Directors National Association, the American Saxophone Academy, and the Minnesota Music Educators Association. Emily has also performed as a soloist and chamber musician at various North American Saxophone Alliance conferences. She recently formed a saxophone and percussion duo where she has traveled throughout the midwest giving performances and masterclasses to undergraduate students. Emily was the recipient of first prize in the Richard Chandler YouTube Recording Competition and the Schubert Club Woodwind Competition. Emily is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree and a Music Education Certificate at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. She serves as the instructor for Woodwind Techniques at the University. Emily began teaching in early 2018 and offers classical, jazz, pop, and most contemporary styles.
