Charlie's Bio:
NYC-based composer/guitarist Charlie studied jazz guitar at Shenandoah Conservatory, earning the Instrument Conservatory Scholarship in 2003 and 2004. He has received grants from the Klaustrid Foundation, Meet The Composer/MetLife Creative Connections Program, the Untitled Artists Group, The Fractured Atlas Group, the Herndon Arts Council, and the New York Foundation for the Arts. Charlie has been teaching since 2006, and his styles include jazz, rock, blues, alternative, and improvisation - He also offers composition lessons. Charlie has served as composer in residence for The Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, The Klaustrid Foundation, and Louisiana State University’s School of Veterinary Medicine. He is the author of “Simply, Patiently, Quietly” from String Letter Publishing - a combination of essays on creative approach, illustrations by Christina Rauh Fishburne, and a songbook of original compositions for solo guitar and choir. His work has been featured in Ploughshares, Acoustic Guitar, and The Advocate. He has given artist talks for the music and literature departments of institutions, including Louisiana State University, the University of Tennessee, and the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He is signed to Destiny Records and is an artist ambassador for Collings Guitars and La Bella Strings.
