NYC based composer/guitarist, Charlie has been performing, recording, and writing music since 1996. He studied jazz guitar at Shenandoah Conservatory from 2003-2005 earning the Instrument Conservatory Scholarship both years. He has received grants from the Klaustrid Foundation, Meet The Composer/MetLife Creative Connections Program, the Untitled Artists Group, The Fractured Atlas Group, the Herndon Arts Council, and the International Studios at Denkalschmeide Hofgen. Charlie has been teaching since 2006 and his styles include jazz, rock, blues, alternative, and improvisation, and he also offers composition. Charlie is co-artistic director of The Inimois Dance Company for which he has composed ensemble as well as solo pieces since 2007. In September of 2010 he served as composer in residence at Skriduklaustur in East Iceland. He has performed original works in venues around the US as well as internationally including Lincoln Center-New York NY, Life Force Art Center -Chicago Il, The Frist Center for the Visual Arts Nashville TN, and NemaForum -Reykjavik Iceland . As an active session musician/performer/improviser Charlie continues to work with members of Wilco, Tony Rice Unit, Sparklehorse, Cracker, and many regulars in New York's new music scene.
