Laura graduated from Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ in 2000 with a Bachelor in Broadcasting and a Minor in Music. She also took courses at Nashville State Community College. Laura began taking piano lessons at the age of six and was classically trained. She wanted to play what she heard on the radio, so she began teaching herself how to play by ear and composing music at the age of eight. Laura accompanied her high school choir, and while in college, composed a musical score for two theatre productions. She began teaching privately in 2000 for a company that taught classes at a local grammar school. Along with teaching, Laura is also a recording artist that has released four albums under her indie label and is pursuing a singer-songwriting career. She is affiliated with NSAI and ASCAP and has played at the famous Bluebird Cafe, Listening Room, Douglas Corner and numerous other venues which features original music. Laura offers traditional, by ear, composition, and country, pop, folk, and classical styles.

Melody Music Studios was founded in 1989 by Kathi Kerr. We offer fun, tailored lessons for all instruments, levels, and styles, reading or by ear. Our goal is to build a strong musical foundation for a lifetime of enjoyment.
We offer a one business-day grace period to cancel with a guarantee: if you're unhappy with the teaching, the first 30 minutes are free. Card information is required at sign up, but it is not charged until the following business day if you're happy.
Future lessons can be canceled anytime with a 30-day notice. Our music teachers go through a rigorous hiring process. We check references and conduct background checks.
