Jon was raised in a musical family and started playing drums at the age of 3 and lessons at the age of 7. He began playing in bands in the second grade, playing the timpani in symphonies, trumpet in concert bands, drum set in big bands and rock bands, and even steel drum in a couple groups. Jon received a bachelor's degree in Music Education from Boston University and a minor in Classical Percussion Performance in 2010. His piano training includes 4 years of piano lab classes (group classes), and piano pedagogy at the university. At BU, he continued to play drum set in their jazz program, along with the classical track they offered. Outside of college, he played drum set in original groups and function bands (weddings, corporate functions, etc.). He also spent time at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, studying drum set performance and playing in a variety of groups there. Jon began teaching in 2010 both privately and in middle school and high school, where he conducted and ran rehearsals and sectionals for Concert Band, Wind Symphony, Big Band, and Marching Band. He was also an associate professor at a couple of colleges in Boston, and spoke/taught drum clinics. In 2014, Jon performed at Theme Parks in the Los Angeles area and performed in corporate/wedding bands, musical theater companies, where he toured extensively with original pop groups. In February 2019, he was offered a gig playing for a country artist in Nashville where he tours and continues to teach. Jon offers rock, pop, funk, jazz, Latin, reggae, country, Second line (new orleans), classical. theory and rhythmic concepts.
