A multi-instrumentalist with degrees in Music Education and over 25 years of teaching and performance experience.
Shelly is originally from Wisconsin, where she began an extensive musical journey studying piano at age 8, flute at 10, saxophone at 12, and clarinet at 14. She attended Luther College, where she learned to play nearly every band instrument, graduating in 1996 with degrees in Music Education and Music Management.
Since moving to the Nashville area in 1997, Shelly has balanced a career as a professional educator and senior financial analyst. She has extensive experience performing in ensembles, including concert bands, jazz ensembles, marching bands, and saxophone quartets.
Teaching for over 25 years, Shelly is known for her patient, "easy-going" personality. She provides a rigorous foundation in music theory and technique while keeping lessons engaging and fun for students of all ages.
Shelly teaches Saxophone, Piano, Oboe, Keyboard, Flute, and Clarinet. Her home studio in Nolensville (near Nolensville Rd and Concord Rd) features a professional 15x15 designated teaching space and a baby grand piano.
Approach: Shelly believes in tailoring her curriculum to the student's pace, fostering technical excellence while encouraging a lifelong love for music.
