A passionate performer and educator with a Master's in Education and extensive professional experience in New York City.
Amaia (pronounced Uh-My-Uh) is a distinguished musician who earned her Bachelor in Music from the Universidad del Pais Vasco in 2007, followed by a Master's degree in Education in 2011. Her formal training began at age seven at the conservatory in Larrabetzu, Spain, where she mastered classical guitar alongside the piano.
With a foundation in rigorous classical discipline, Amaia spent her late teens and adulthood exploring modern music. This versatility allows her to perform with multiple local groups in NYC, spanning genres from high-energy Rock and Roll to soulful Americana. This performance depth informs her teaching, offering students a practical look at musicianship.
Teaching since 2016, Amaia is known for an outgoing and encouraging personality. She specializes in helping students navigate the transition from fundamental technique to modern expression across Classical, Blues, Pop, and Rock styles.
Amaia believes in a well-rounded musical education. She travels up to 6 miles from her Brooklyn base for in-home lessons and offers interactive online sessions. Her lessons utilize professional gear including a Nord Electro 4 keyboard and Spanish guitars to provide students with a premium learning experience.
