Rhythm is probably the most difficult part of music to learn and often the most neglected part of lessons. Identifying the note name is pretty straight forward, where rhythm is “time”. In this Rhythm Workbook, the student plays or claps the rhythm (there’s no note names), allowing the student to concentrate on the rhythm. This is great for students who are already reading and playing songs, but need a extra little help when it comes to reading the rhythm. This 20 page book in two chapters include the quarter note/rest, dotted quarter note, half note/rest, dotted half note, whole note/rest, eight note/rest and the tie. Steady beats and counting beat numbers is stressed, so the student learns how each beat number feels. Chapter one has a single line of rhythm, and chapter two has two lines for the student to read simultaneously. This book can be used for all instrumentalists and vocalists along with piano students. In chapter two, non-piano students can play one line while the instructor plays the second line, teaching students to keep their part while others are playing a different rhythm (great to band students and vocalists). Recommended ages 8-adult.
