Sophie is a pianist and singer-songwriter based in Philadelphia. She began her private studies on piano from 1998-2007, and received high honors in the Spring Piano Performance Festival (Philadelphia Music Teachers Association) at Temple University. In 2012, Sophie received her Bachelor of Music Degree in Classical Composition from the Manhattan School of Music. She spent a year studying piano and composition at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen and then went on to study at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London, where she received a Certificate of Higher Education in Songwriting. Sophie continues to study privately with a well known pianist. She has performed in New York City, London, and Copenhagen, and has several years of teaching experience in a variety of settings, and in 2014, she won the Shure Songwriting Award. Her music has been featured on WSTW 93.7, and she has performed at venues throughout Philadelphia, including Bourbon and Branch, World Cafe Live, and recently, at a Sofar Sounds show. Sophie has been teaching privately, and at a music school, since 2007, and directed the music program for a girls' camp. She's also been an accompanist for a synagogue and high school choir and orchestra. She offers classical, pop, jazz, and R&B. Sophie looks forward to helping students achieve their musical goals and understands that no two students are the same, and enjoys sharing her love of music and believes that music is there for everyone.
