Rob is a seasoned pianist and educator based in Charlotte, North Carolina. He graduated from Johnson C Smith University in 1982 with a major in Music Education. Following his graduation, Rob spent nearly a decade touring throughout the United States as a professional keyboardist for a premier Top 40 band, an international journey that also included a professional residency in Italy.
An accomplished leader in the musical community, Rob served as the musical director for the hit gospel play "My Grandmother Prayed for Me." Since 1992, he has owned and operated his own recording studio, providing him with a sophisticated technical understanding of sound and production. He remains a highly active performer, serving as a regular member of his church band.
Teaching since 1992, Rob is known for his easygoing and laid-back personality, creating a relaxed yet focused environment for his students. He offers expert instruction in Gospel, Pop, R&B, Rock, and Light Classical styles. Whether a student wants to master the art of playing by ear or follow a light traditional method with sheet music, Rob tailors his professional insight to help students of all ages achieve their musical goals.
Rob provides lessons from a professional studio environment in Charlotte and offers high-definition online sessions for students nationwide. He is also available for in-home lessons throughout the local area. He focuses on rhythmic groove and practical application, ensuring students can play the music they love with confidence.
