Michael is a native New Yorker and was Valedictorian in the famed High School of Performing Arts in Manhattan. He graduated from State University New York at Purchase in 1987 as a scholarship student with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music (Flute) with honors (Summa cum Laude). He then attended SUNY at Stony Brook, receiving Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in flute performance, sponsored by a Javits Fellowship from the federal government. He began teaching privately in 1987, and following that at the Bronx Conservatory of Music and the Preparatory Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College. Along with being a teacher, Michael is also a classical and jazz and sometimes rock performer and composer. Michael has performed in the prestigious Carnegie Hall, among other famous venues, and continues to perform regularly at concert halls, clubs and nursing homes. He offers all styles, including classical, jazz, pop, and rock.

Melody Music Studios was founded in 1989 by Kathi Kerr. We offer fun, tailored lessons for all instruments, levels, and styles, reading or by ear. Our goal is to build a strong musical foundation for a lifetime of enjoyment.
We offer a one business-day grace period to cancel with a guarantee: if you're unhappy with the teaching, the first 30 minutes are free. Card information is required at sign up, but it is not charged until the following business day if you're happy.
Future lessons can be canceled anytime with a 30-day notice. Our music teachers go through a rigorous hiring process. We check references and conduct background checks.
