Cengiz graduated from Los Angeles City College in Los Angeles, CA in 1996 with an AA in music. He then continued his education at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA to receive a Bachelor in Percussion Performance in 1998, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Cengiz grew up in Turkey, where he knew percussion would be his career when he won a national high school music competition in 1985. Since than he's been fortunate to perform both in jazz and rock bands in his home country and around the World. He's toured Europe several times and played in prestigious jazz festivals. In the US, he's performed in famous clubs like Blue Note in New York, and performed with notable and well known musicians. From 2007-2016, Cengiz toured with a famous rock band in Turkey. Cengiz is currently focused on teaching and his recording projects, collaborating with top professional musicians in the NY and NJ areas. Cengiz began teaching in 1998, and offers jazz, rock, R&B, funk, Afro Cuban, Brazilian, and odd meters.

Equipment: DW drums with up to three sets that can be set up, practice pads for hands and feet, Yamaha Digital Piano, computer , sound card and speakers to study video examples, and audio/video recordings.
