A passionate performer and educator with extensive experience teaching in New York City.
Amaia (pronounced Uh-My-Uh) received a Bachelor in Music from the Universidad del Pais Vasco/Euskal Herriko in 2007 and a Master's degree in Education from Unibertsitatea (UPV/EHU) in Spain in 2011.
She started showing a deep interest in music at a very young age, and by 7 Amaia began her professional training at the conservatory in her home town of Larrabetzu. There she chose the guitar as her second instrument per the conservatory's mandate and was classically trained until the age of 16. At that time, Amaia began experimenting with different types of modern music.
She currently performs with multiple groups locally, ranging from rock and roll to Americana.
Amaia began teaching in 2016 and offers classical, blues, boogie-woogie, pop, rock, reggae, and jazz styles. Her personality is described as outgoing.
Travels: Up to 6 miles from Brooklyn.
Equipment: Nord Electro 4 keyboard, a Farfisa organ, and two Spanish guitars.
