Melissa earned her Postgraduate Diploma at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, under the tutelage of world renowned soprano, Deborah Voigt. Melissa earned a Master of Fine Arts in vocal performance from the University of California, Irvine, where she sang the national anthem for President Barack Obama. As an undergraduate, she studied at the University of the Pacific under the guidance of vocal instructor Lynelle Wiens and pianist John Cozza. Melissa has performed in music festivals all over the world, including the American Institute for Musical Studies Opera Studio, Accademia Europea dell'Opera, Russian Opera Workshop, and Angels Vocal Art. In 2017, Melissa sang with Opera San Jose in addition to performances with The Napa Valley Music Association, The San Francisco Youth Chamber Orchestra, Opera on the Spot, and The Solano Chamber Society. At the same time, she taught kinder and first grade general music at Starr King Elementary with The San Francisco Conservatory in the Schools program, as well as completing an internship in the Education Department at San Francisco Opera. In 2018, Melissa will be completing her Doctorate in Music at JMU and will be performing the role of Despina in Cosi fan tutte. She has been teaching since 2010, and offers classical, opera, musical theatre, jazz, and pop styles.
