Jay grew up in a huge musical family playing music into the wee hours. He first began to play piano at the age of seven, taking lessons from a woman who taught both piano and painting. He loved to explore melodies and chords. When he was 13, Jay received an electric guitar and found another another passion. At fifteen, Jay began performing in bands and started writing his own music. He began his formal education at Orange Coast Community college, where he studied classical/jazz guitar and music theory. He then transferred to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA where he received his Bachelor in Music in 2002. Jay began teaching guitar and bass lessons also in 2002. He continues to perform as a soloist, in jazz combos, and rock bands in restaurants and at various events locally. Jay offers rock, pop, classical, jazz, blues, Bosa-Nova for guitar, and classical on piano.
